Local Beaches
The Mar Menor is a unique place with warm, shallow waters
and clean, sandy, blue flag beaches
This is just a quick guide to some of the local beaches we enjoy.

LOS ALCÁZARES
The promenade and beach stretches for 8km and the local blue-flag beaches are fantastic having won the Q awards for excellence & safety.
Dotted with “chiringuitos” where you can have tapas to keep you going throughout the day.
The water temperature is much higher than the surrounding Mediterranean and is warm enough to swim even in Spring!
LOS NAREJOS
The nearest beach is at Los Narejos and is just 2 km from the resort.
Gently shelving and really safe for kids. Apart from the height of Summer, the beach is usually quiet and is my personal favourite.
Although there are limited facilities here, there are a few beach bars that serve reasonably priced tapas, snacks and burgers.
As this is a Spanish holiday town, in the Spring and Autumn it can be virtually deserted. So watch out – it can also mean the bars are closed!
Catch a glimpse of the Patrulla Aguila as they practice!
LO PAGAN
Head for Lo Pagan to take in the famous mud baths.
The mud is applied over the body and allowed to dry in the sun before being washed off in the salt waters.
The kids will love it! Getting dirty without being told off!
But take care – the mud stains so use an old swimsuit.
SANTIAGO DE LA RIBERA
Lovely promenade and beach that is popular with Spanish Holiday makers – but don’t worry though as English is spoken here.
Some nice bars and restaurants on the promenade where you can sit and watch the world go by.
Santiago de la Ribera boasts a popular water-sports centre and sailing club with sailing, water skiing, boat hire, wind surfing, scuba diving, fishing, cycling and a sports centre.
SOUTHERN MAR MENOR
The Southern end of the Mar Menor is less touristy than Los Alcázares and has some fantastic, quiet beaches.
One of our friends always checks out the beaches wherever he goes – looking for the white sand to compare to his native Jamaica.
He was impressed by Mar de Cristal and Los Nietos and said “almost as good as home!”
CALBLANQUE
The Parque de Calblanque is an area of stunning beauty.
Rocky cliffs and quiet sandy beaches to die for.
It’s not difficult to get to but it is quite remote.
Take everything you need with you – water, towels and sun cream, as there is absolutely nothing in the vicinity.
The best parts are the tiny coves between the rocks, where there is enough space to put your towel whilst the cliffs protect you from the sun.
